Russian-Arabic Psychological Dictionary marks milestone in Russia-UAE relations: Russian official

ABU DHABI: The newly launched digital format of the Russian-Arabic Psychological Dictionary is a milestone in Russia-UAE relations, according to Pavel Vladimirovich Krekov, Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk region in the Russian Federation.

In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the 2024 World Rehabilitation Congress, he said, “Today, we witnessed a truly landmark event. The unveiling of the Russian-Arabic Psychological Dictionary is the result of years of hard work.’

He emphasised that it would serve as a crucial tool for specialists working with people who need special support-those who are rightly called ‘resilient individuals.’

The Deputy Governor was referring to the electronic platform launched on Wednesday, aimed at converting the UAE-Russian Psychology Dictionary into a digital format and storing it in accredited databases. The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in collaboration with the UAE Researchers Centre for Research and Studies and Ural Federal University in the Russian Federation, launched the e-platform. It works by connecting the dictionary’s database to global internet platforms, allowing the database to be integrated as a reliable source of information for machine learning processes.

The platform aims to register the dictionary with professional international publishing bodies, such as UNESCO and global library forums, ensuring compatibility with AI engines like ChatGPT by providing APIs or standardised interfaces for content access and query.

Krekov highlighted the collaborative nature of the project, noting the involvement of both Russian and Arab experts. ‘A large number of people were involved in this effort, including the Ural Federal University and our Arab partners. This is just the beginning; I’m confident that this project will grow, with a printed version of the dictionary to be released in the near future.’

The Deputy Governor also stressed the role of human connections in fostering international partnerships. “This project, like much of our collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, is deeply rooted in personal relationships and shared values. Completing such a large-scale initiative reflects the strength of the ties between Russia and the UAE,” Krekov said.

He added that the dictionary not only supports professionals but symbolises the deepening cooperation between the two nations.
