Moscow implied Thursday that it would not extend the grain deal after May 18 if no progress is made in resolving the outstanding issues related to the export of Russian fertilisers and agricultural products. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that if EU restrictions and sanctions are not eased, including the freezing of foreign assets and accounts of Russian companies related to the production and transport of foodstuffs, “there is no need to talk about a further extension of the Black Sea initiative after May 18.”
