Moscow Thursday said it is suspending the work of Russian cultural centres in Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania and Montenegro because of “difficulties” in obtaining visas for its diplomats to enter the six countries. “Our work has been suspended in Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Romania. Of course, this suspension is not done at Russia’s initiative, and its reasons are different,” said the head of Russia’s Foreign and International Humanitarian Cooperation Authority, Yevgeny Primakov, told journalists. Primakov added, “In one country, the government suspended the bilateral agreement on the activity of Russian cultural centres. In other countries, a new expulsion of Russian diplomats is taking place. If our employees leave the territory of a country, new visas would not be issued for them, and all this activity is frozen.”
