MOSCOW: The InteRussia fellowship programme in theatre arts has been launched at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow, TV BRICS reported.
Developed during the Year of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship, this initiative is a collaboration between the TV BRICS International Media Network and GITIS, and is part of the InteRussia fellowship programme, organised by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of GITIS, highlighted that while the theatre university has been actively engaged in international activities, this is the first project conducted within the BRICS framework. The programme has already generated significant interest among young artists.
Victoria Karsliyeva, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, emphasised the high requirements for candidates, explaining that the programme’s concept focuses on an individual approach and mentoring for each participant.
Over several weeks, young cultural figures from Argentina, Brazil, India, Iran, Chi
na, and South Africa will be introduced to the best practices of the Russian theatre school. They will participate in classes and masterclasses conducted by leading actors and teachers, and will attend lectures on the creative journey of Stanislavsky and his pupils, learning about the system of stage reincarnation developed by the renowned artist. The programme will also feature screenings of open classes and performances from the GITIS Training Theatre.
Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, noted that the project was preceded by a comprehensive information campaign.
According to the organisers, one of the objectives of the fellowship is to strengthen the image of Russia and promote the Russian theatre tradition internationally.
