Report – More than two-thirds of premature babies died due to the war in Gaza

Gaza – Together – Al-Dameer Foundation for Human Rights – Gaza issued a field report on (the death of more than two-thirds of premature babies due to the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip).

The report addressed, firstly, the legal protection of children during times of war, secondly, the impact of the war on nurseries (intensive care for newborns) inside hospitals, thirdly: the impact of the war on appropriate health care for newborns, fourthly: premature babies emerged alive despite being targeted in their mothers’ wombs, live testimonies. The crimes of the occupation led to the death of children after being removed from their mothers’ wombs alive and the martyrdom of their mothers.

The report aimed to shed light on the conditions of newborns (premature) in order to come up with recommendations that may contribute to protecting these children. The report concluded that more than two-thirds of premature babies died due to the lack of appropriate nurseries and complete health care.

The report recommended the
necessity of urgent international intervention and pressure on the Israeli occupation government to stop the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, and the necessity of intervention by the World Health Organization and the Special Rapporteur on the right to health to assume their responsibilities and provide hospitals operating in the Gaza Strip with the necessary medical supplies and materials and incubation equipment, and to work immediately to establish a corridor. It is safe to transport cases of newborn babies that need rapid medical intervention to transport them outside the Gaza Strip. Immediate work is done to form field hospitals that include incubators for premature babies to save as many of them as possible.
