Refugee Affairs Department holds workshop to complete development of data center and e-portal


Ramallah – Ma’an – Within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the Department of Refugee Affairs and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) within the Transparency, Evidence and Accountability (TEA) program implemented by UNDP and funded by the British Consulate in Jerusalem (FCOO) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the third consultative workshop was held to develop inputs for designing the electronic platform for Palestinian refugees.

The third consultative workshop, which was held with the participation of representatives of the popular committees, rehabilitation centers for the disabled, women’s centers, youth centers, cultural centers, and charitable associations, witnessed the discussion of a number of pivotal issues, which focused on designing the platform in a way that meets the needs of all relevant beneficiary parties, including allocating electronic portals for the popular committees, refugees, researchers, partners, and donors.

Participants st
ressed the importance of documenting the displaced villages and including accurate data about refugees in the electronic platform, for the benefit of those interested and studying, in addition to archiving the activities of institutions and committees. Proposals were also put forward on how to develop the relationship and communication between institutions, popular committees and the department by computerizing procedures and facilitating and speeding up communication.

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of further communication and consultation with all partners to ensure the development of the platform in a way that serves all relevant parties and achieves the desired benefit.
