Quseir: China markets open doors for Egypt’s pomegranate exports

Minister of Agriculture El Sayyed El Quseir announced that China markets have opened for the Egyptian pomegranate exports in accordance with a report he received by Head of the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine Department Chief Ahmed El Attar.

In statements on Monday, Quseir said China is one of the important markets for Egypt due to its population density and the high rates of its imports of vegetables and fruits.

He said Egypt’s exports of fresh pomegranate exceed 100,000 tons annually, adding that China’s approval on Egypt’s exports was issued after technical talks and long-term measures to know the circumstances of agricultural monitoring as well as other relevant measures on exports.

Egypt’s agricultural exports this year amounted to 5 million tons compared with 600,000 tons during the same period of the previous year.
