Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that “the aggression against Lebanon puts the entire region on the brink of an abyss.”
In a joint press conference in Doha on Wednesday, Sheikh Tamim and Pezeshkian warned of the consequences of Israeli escalation in the region, stressing that they had warned of this since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza. They called on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
“Mediation is our strategic choice, and Qatar will continue its endeavors to stop the war in the Gaza Strip,” the Emir of Qatar said, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and expressing Qatar’s support for any endeavor to end the escalation.

The Emir of Qatar said that his meeting with the Iranian president “is npart of the continuation of the dialogue between the
two countries, during which areas of cooperation, especially trade and economic cooperation, were discussed.”
Sheikh Tamim warned that “the aggression puts the region on the brink of an abyss and the risk of expanding violence,” urging “the international community to compel Israel to stop its brutal aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.”
Regarding Qatar’s mediation in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, he noted that his country’s efforts and endeavors to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and release Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners continue despite the “complications” of the continued Israeli aggression.
