Qatar and Iran call for halting Israeli aggression on Lebanon and Gaza

Doha – Ma’an – The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that “the aggression on Lebanon puts the entire region on the brink of the abyss.”

Al Thani and Bazkishian warned, in a joint press conference in Doha on Wednesday, of the consequences of the Israeli escalation in the region, stressing that they had warned of this since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.

They called on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The Emir of Qatar said, “Mediation is our strategic option, and Qatar will continue its efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip,” calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities, and expressing Qatar’s support for any effort to end the escalation.

Pezeshkian arrived in Doha this afternoon on a two-day visit, his first since assuming office last June.

The Emir of Qatar said that his meeting with the Iranian President comes “within the framework of continuing dialo
gue between the two countries, during which areas of cooperation, especially trade and economic, were discussed.”

Al Thani warned that “the aggression puts the region on the brink of the abyss and the danger of expanding violence in it,” calling on “the international community to compel Israel to stop its brutal aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.”

Regarding Qatar’s mediation in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, he pointed out that his country’s efforts and endeavors to stop the Israeli war on Gaza and release Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners continue despite the “complications” of the continued Israeli aggression.
