Amman: Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. AbeidAllah Maaitah, on Wednesday sponsored the directorate’s celebration held on the occasion of World Drug Day, under the slogan (Together We Fight Drugs), which is organized, in cooperation with the European Union and the German Foundation for International Cooperation (GIZ).

In his speech, Maaitah said today’s celebration affirms PSD’s “continued” endeavor to combat drugs and fight their evils, recalling the “remarkable” efforts and sacrifices made by loyal Jordanians and the entire world to fight these deadly substances.

Maaitah added that drugs are a global problem and phenomenon that affect all the peoples and countries globally.

Continuing: “Drugs are a cross-border crime that knows no borders and does not distinguish between race, gender, or color, which doubles the extent of its damage and the related negative effects on various security, social, and economic fields.”

Locally, Maaitah said Royal directives affirm the necessity of “di
ligent and continuous” work and cooperation among all concerned parties to confront this phenomenon and stand as an “invincible” barrier to face parties, who attempt to spread or promote these toxins inside or outside the Kingdom’s territory.

Additionally, he indicated that the PSD was “keen” to make all possible efforts, based on a set of operational, awareness-raising and remedial measures, in accordance with careful plans and scientific and practical programmes.

He noted this effort contributed “significantly” to reduce effects of this phenomenon and address them, in “continuous” coordination with the Kingdom’s armed forces, security services, Jordan Customs, and official and private state institutions.
