Cairo: Ahmed Kouchak, the Minister of Finance, and Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, reviewed the execution status of the presidential directives regarding the disbursement of additional support to the ten million most needy families registered on the ration cards, at a total cost of 4 billion Egyptian pounds. This is part of the recent social protection package, which is more targeted towards the most vulnerable and low-income groups, contributing to alleviating the living burdens on citizens.
According to State Information Service Egypt, a joint statement from the Ministries of Finance and Supply and Internal Trade noted that the state treasury has allocated 2 billion Egyptian pounds from the additional financial appropriations set within the social protection package to the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade. This allocation is to approve an increase of 125 Egyptian pounds for single-person cards and 250 Egyptian pounds for two or more individuals for a period of two months (March and April 2025). The disbursement will start today for approximately 10 million of the most needy families registered on the ration cards.
