Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Ali opened the 7th International Conference for the University of Jordan (UJ) Library on Tuesday, titled “Libraries in their Fourth Generation from a Practical Perspective.”
During the ceremony, University President Nazir Obeidat stated that the advent of artificial intelligence tools and their widespread availability to the public “has brought the future we aspire for closer,” explaining that the impact of programming and technology in the world of open networks is visible in a variety of fields and sectors, particularly publishing and libraries.
He went on to say that artificial intelligence is useful in scientific research and academic publication.
Obeidat emphasized that the age of technology and artificial intelligence has not been and will not be without challenges and risks, and that privacy, security, and digital ethics require attention, scrutiny, and strategic thinking, as well as hard and enduring work to develop appropriate preventive measures.
He pointed out that digital culture is not only about knowing how to use hardware and software, but also about being able to think critically and creatively about how to utilize these tools and navigate technology and the digital world with all of its potential benefits and obstacles.
