Cairo: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, following his participation in the inauguration ceremony, toured the newly established “Geely” car assembly plant located within the Bavarian Automotive Manufacturing Company. During the visit, the Prime Minister emphasized the Egyptian government’s commitment to enhancing the industrial sector, particularly the automotive industry, by creating an attractive environment for investments.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister highlighted the establishment of a national program aimed at developing the automotive sector, which serves as a comprehensive framework to advance this vital industry. The program is designed to localize automotive manufacturing in Egypt, providing incentives and fostering an investment-friendly climate.
During the tour, Dr. Madbouly received a detailed briefing from Mr. Mohamed Zakaria, General Manager of the Bavarian Automotive Company, on the various stages of production. These include local component manufacturing, laser welding, metal body assembly, painting, and final assembly. The Prime Minister also observed a model of a “Geely” car assembled on the newly inaugurated production lines.
Mr. Zakaria highlighted the company’s collaboration with local factories to supply components essential for automotive manufacturing. Engineer Fahd Ali Al-Ghanem, Chairman of “Ali Al-Ghanem Automotive” Company, stated that the inauguration of the “Geely” assembly lines aligns with the Egyptian government’s strategy to localize the automotive industry, supporting the national economy and generating new job opportunities. The factory boasts a local manufacturing percentage of 45% and houses two production lines with a total capacity of 10,000 vehicles annually.
Dr. Madbouly praised the local component percentage in manufacturing and expressed optimism about increasing this percentage in the future. Engineer Al-Ghanem further emphasized the company’s commitment to Egyptian-made “Geely” vehicles, affirming an investment of $100 million in partnership with “Auto Mobility” to manufacture and assemble “Geely” cars in Egypt.
Al-Ghanem noted Egypt’s strategic importance in the Middle East for investment and manufacturing, attributing this to the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He announced the launch of the first two “Geely” models, the Emgrand sedan and the 2025 Kolray SUV.
Mr. Essam Ibrahim Al-Arjani, CEO of the Al-Arjani Group, acknowledged the state’s support and the founders’ desire to manufacture “Geely” cars for the Egyptian market with future export plans. Mr. Osman Abdel Moneim, Managing Director of “Auto Mobility,” highlighted the company’s vision to elevate industry standards in Egypt, marking the launch of locally assembled “Geely” cars as a testament to their commitment to quality and innovation.
“Auto Mobility,” established in 2023, is the official agent and manufacturer of the global “Geely” brand in Egypt, formed through an alliance of key automotive players in the Middle East, including “Ali Al-Ghanem and Sons Automotive Company,” “Mohammed Youssef Naghi Automotive Company,” and the “Al-Arjani Group.”
