Prime Minister Reviews Progress on Energy Sector Offerings


Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, followed up on the status of offerings in the energy sector during a meeting held today, attended by Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Hassan Khateeb, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Ms. Noha Khalil, Executive Director of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt. The Prime Minister confirmed that this meeting, which focuses on the status of offerings in the energy sector, comes in light of the interest in the regular follow-up of the implementation of the government offerings programme, as part of the implementation of the State Ownership Policy Document, which contributes to achieving the state’s objectives in empowering the private sector and enhancing its role in the national economy through greater participation in the implementation of projects in the targeted sectors.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, stated that the meeting reviewed the results of cooperation and coordination in the joint work files between the Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Investment and Foreign Trade, and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, regarding the steps to identify promising investment opportunities in the energy sector and actively promote them, in an effort to attract more investments, especially in the fields of new and renewable energy, while working to maximize the benefits from the significant advantages that this sector enjoys in Egypt.



The official spokesperson pointed out that the meeting also addressed the implementation status of the offerings concerning the energy sector, including projects from which the state will divest, in preparation for offering them for partnership with the private sector, particularly in the field of new and renewable energy, which has global interest.
