NEW YORK: Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa met today with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, Mustafa briefed Guterres on the deteriorating situation in Palestine, the ongoing Israeli genocide campaign against the people of Gaza and the escalating violence by the Israeli military and settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The discussions also focused on practical steps for implementing UN Security Council resolutions aimed at halting the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Mustafa emphasized the importance of the UN General Assembly’s decision, which is based on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, to end the occupation and facilitate the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Additionally, the Prime Minister reiterated the Palestinian efforts to achieve full UN membership and to gain further recognition for the State of Palestine,
as part of a broader goal to end the occupation and secure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people as outlined in international law and UN resolutions.
