correspondent Sofien Manai)- On the second day of his trip to Switzerland to attend the 54th World Economic Forum in Davos, Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani held a series of bilateral meetings with European leaders and international economic players.
In the eastern Swiss canton of Graubnden, where this global economic conclave is being held, the Premier met with Hungarian President Katalin Novák on Tuesday.
According to a Prime Ministry source, the meeting, which took place in the presence of the Minister of Finance and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, focused on Tunisian-Hungarian cooperation and ways to develop it.
Continuing his activities in Davos, the Prime Minister also held talks with the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo.
The meeting was an opportunity for both parties to stress the importance of developing economic cooperation and exchanges in both directions, particularly in the economic field.
Hachani took the opportunity to reiterate his governm
ent’s commitment to improving the business climate and encouraging and facilitating the attraction of foreign direct investment, which he said was a fundamental lever for boosting the national economy.
The Prime Minister also held talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to identify new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
The Dutch Prime Minister stressed his country’s willingness to invest more in Tunisia, particularly in the water and energy sectors.
Vocational training, employment and cooperation between Tunisia and the European Union were also discussed. In this context, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that “these relations are strategic and should be developed for the benefit of both countries”.
Ahmed Hachani also held talks with Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okuonjo-Iweala, focusing in particular on the various areas of cooperation.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister took part in a debate on the launch of the first private sector action plan for the African
Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
In his speech, Hachani underlined the importance of this continental zone agreement in terms of the opportunities it offers for cooperation between member countries and with strategic partners.
