Prime Minister Madbouly Confirms Preservation of Downtown’s Architectural Character


Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, addressed the media during a weekly press conference following the Cabinet meeting, marking the resumption of such gatherings after a break for the Eid al-Fitr holiday. He welcomed journalists and media representatives and shared insights on several significant developments.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Madbouly highlighted the launch of the ‘Digital Pioneers’ programme, presented by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology. This initiative aims to inspire Egyptian youth to delve into the digital sector, a critical element for the country’s economic growth.



Reflecting on recent diplomatic engagements, the Prime Minister discussed the historic visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Egypt, emphasizing the deep bilateral relations between the two nations. The visit included tours of cultural landmarks and culminated in agreements elevating Egypt-France relations to a strategic partnership, covering health, education, infrastructure, economy, and energy sectors.



Dr. Madbouly also touched on the Egyptian-French-Jordanian tripartite summit, highlighting consensus on actions regarding the Gaza Strip crisis. Additionally, he mentioned discussions between the leaders of Egypt, France, and Jordan with former US President Donald Trump on Middle Eastern issues.



Addressing global economic challenges, Dr. Madbouly described the current scenario as a comprehensive commercial and economic war, noting its impact on economies worldwide. He assured that Egypt is not an exception and has taken measures through the Central Bank to stabilize the economy amidst foreign investment outflows.



The Prime Minister stressed the importance of maintaining national economic stability and continuing positive growth rates. He outlined plans for economic reforms, deepening local product support, and encouraging foreign direct investment. He also mentioned opportunities arising from global challenges, particularly in industry and investment sectors.



Dr. Madbouly announced the European Parliament’s approval of a strategic partnership with Egypt, providing direct support of 4 billion euros. He also discussed collaborations with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt to offer companies for investment, a move aimed at optimizing state assets.



Reiterating the government’s commitment to preserving Cairo’s architectural heritage, Dr. Madbouly assured that there are no intentions to alter the downtown area’s historic buildings. Instead, efforts focus on repurposing unused assets to boost tourism and hospitality.



In closing, Dr. Madbouly highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the Pyramids area, with a trial operation aimed at enhancing visitor experience and rectifying past issues. He emphasized the government’s dedication to addressing political and cultural developments through the National Dialogue mechanism, supporting regional stability and progress.
