Price of 21-karat gold hits JD53 per gram in local market

Prices of 21-karat gold, the highest demand at the local market, stood at JD53 per gram as a purchasing price, against JD51 as a selling price, an official said Saturday.

Jordan Jewelers Association’s Secretary General, Ribhy Allan, told Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the price of 24-karat and 18-karat gold amounted to JD60.70 and JD47, respectively.

The price of a Rashadi lira, weighing seven grams, stood at JD378, while an English lira, which weighs eight grams, reached JD427, Allan added.

Demand and supply for gold in the local market is weak, compared to the same time last year, he said, adding that citizens are waiting for prices to stabilize.

Influenced by political events in the region and the dollar’s interest rate reduction, gold finished its weekly trading on the global market on Friday at a new historical record of $2622 per ounce, Allan concluded.
