Presidential spokesman warns against continued Israeli aggression, intensification of settlements in West BankRussia requests a UN Security Council meeting to discuss arms supplies to Ukraine.

RAMALLAH: The presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh today warned against the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the intensification of squatter settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Abu Rudeineh stressed that while the occupation is escalating its all-out war on the Palestinian people and committing genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip, it is at the same time practicing silent land annexation in the West Bank; by increasing the number of random settlements and the forced displacement of the Palestinians, especially in the Jordan Valley areas.

He stressed that this occupation’s policy, which violates all international legitimacy resolutions, most notably UN Resolution No. 2334, will not impose a fait accompli on the Palestinian people; because they are the decision-makers and the makers of their future.

Abu Rudeineh pointed out that the future of the Palestinian land in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is only determined by the Palestinian people and
not by the occupation and its criminal policies, nor by any other external party.

He stressed that the American administration must immediately intervene and oblige the occupation authorities to stop their aggression against the Palestinian people and stop settlement expansion in all its forms because its continuation means dragging the region into an uncontrollably grave situation.

Abu Rudeineh affirmed that the continuation of this Israeli policy, which is backed by the US, will not achieve security and stability for anyone, or in the region.

Tripoli: The Russian “TASS” news agency reported that Russia has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss Western arms supplies to Ukraine.

The agency quoted a source in the United Nations as saying: ‘A request was received from Russia to hold a Security Council meeting on the twenty-second of this month to discuss Western arms supplies to Ukraine.’

This comes as Western countries requested a Security Council meeting on January 10 regarding alleged weapons supplies from North Korea to Russia.

For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out more than once that Western countries’ accusations of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea are false and unfounded.
