JERUSALEM: The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine today condemned the colonist ‘Flag March’ in occupied Jerusalem as a gross abuse of the rights of Muslims and Christians alike.

Chairman of the Committee, Ramzi Khoury, considered the ‘Flag March’, which usually see thousands of right-wing supremacist Israeli colonists, under police protection, carrying machine guns, waving Israeli flags, dancing, singing and descending on Jerusalem to celebrate the so-called unification of the city, a blatant attack on the rights, sentiments and sanctities of both Muslims and Christians.

He affirmed that the march is a translation of the policies pursued and measures taken by the Israeli government, all aimed at advancing Israeli settler-colonialism in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

He said this march, which saw the participation of thousands of supremacist colonists and members of Knesset and their encroachment upon Al-Aqsa Mosque, show the level of the vile hatred harbored and terrorist ideolo
gy embraced by such colonist groups, all led by Israeli ministers.

The committee called on churches and ecclesiastical institutions along with relevant international institutions worldwide to take urgent action and decisive stances on dealing with such extremist Israeli groups and the occupation government, condemn their ideology and actions, and provide international protection to the Palestinian people, their territories and sanctities.

It affirmed that the city of Jerusalem, which has been occupied for 57 years, is an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967 and the eternal capital of the State of Palestine, which has gained the recognition of 148 states worldwide, in line with the United Nations resolutions.
