President of Zambia Inspects Veterinary Serum and Vaccine Institute in Cairo


Cairo: President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, visited the Veterinary Serum and Vaccine Institute in Abbassia during his official visit to Cairo. The visit was part of his discussions with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and attendance at the Egyptian-Zambian Forum at the Ministry of Investment.



According to State Information Service Egypt, President Hichilema, accompanied by Alaa Farouk, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, toured the institute to understand its production capacity for veterinary serums and vaccines. The Zambian President was briefed on the institute’s research and production efforts, emphasizing its role in protecting livestock and poultry. He expressed interest in leveraging Egyptian expertise in serum and vaccine production to benefit Zambia.



The Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, welcomed President Hichilema and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to providing support to Zambia. He highlighted President El-Sisi’s directives to offer all forms of assistance, including sending Egyptian experts to Zambia and hosting Zambian colleagues for training. The cooperation could extend to capacity building, knowledge transfer, and scholarships for training in various agricultural activities at the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture.



In conclusion, the Minister of Agriculture extended gratitude to President Hichilema and his delegation, wishing both nations development, peace, and prosperity.
