President El-Sisi Speaks With French President Macron

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Tuesday 16/7/2024 a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said the call confirmed the centrality of the Egyptian-French relations as well as the two presidents’ aspiration to continue joint work to enhance aspects of bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly the economic field, in light of the involvement of a large number of French companies and institutions in the development process that Egypt has witnessed over the past years.

This is in addition to the role of the Egyptian-French partnership in supporting security and stability in the Middle East.

During the call, the two presidents exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, mainly developments in the Gaza Strip.

President El-Sisi reviewed the ongoing Egyptian
mediation efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire and the exchange of captives. The President stressed the importance of uniting international efforts to make the mediation efforts succeed and to deliver humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities to alleviate the harsh conditions that the people of the Gaza Strip are suffering from as a result of the Israeli military operations.

French President Macron valued Egypt’s tireless efforts since the outbreak of the crisis. The two presidents agreed on the importance of intensifying joint international action, with the aim of preventing the conflict from expanding and preventing the region from slipping into a new cycle of unaccounted conflict.

They stressed the need to advance the path of a two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, being the best path to achieve sustainable security and stability in the region.
