President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Tuesday 17/10/2023 with Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Mr. Mathias Cormann. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmad Fahmy, said President El-Sisi lauded the level of cooperation between Egypt and the organization.
The President underscored the importance Egypt accords to further advancing its cooperation with the OECD, in line with Egypt’s sustainable development plans as envisaged in Egypt Vision 2030.
This is, in addition to providing technical support for the economic reform program across its various aspects, in light of Egypt’s endeavors to benefit from the different policies of international institutions of outstanding expertise in this area.
The Secretary-General of the OECD valued the fruitful cooperation with the Government of Egypt, expressing pride in the fact that Egypt’s Country Program, which was signed in 2021, represents the largest program of its kind in the organization’s history, given Egypt’s opportunities and relative advantages at the economic and development levels.
The meeting reviewed ways to cultivate closer cooperation between Egypt and the OECD in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic growth in fields including innovation, digital transformation, government and combating corruption, enhancing statistics and follow-up and sustainable development.
