Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, along with his delegation on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The meeting was attended by high-ranking Egyptian officials including Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Local Development Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, and Director of the General Intelligence Service Mr. Hassan Rashad.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Qatari prime minister conveyed greetings from the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with Egypt across political, economic, and investment sectors. Preside
nt El-Sisi expressed his gratitude towards the Emir, highlighting mutual interests in strengthening bilateral relations to meet the aspirations of both nations amidst regional and international challenges.
Discussions during the meeting focused on joint efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, release hostages, and provide unconditional humanitarian aid to the region. Both parties underscored the necessity of supporting the Palestinian people in establishing an independent state while preserving their national interests.
The leaders also agreed on the importance of empowering Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese army, to maintain Lebanon’s security and sovereignty, while seeking to build on the ceasefire for broader regional stability. They called for the international community to actively address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza by ensuring necessary aid reaches the Palestinian people.
