President El-Sisi, His Kenyan Counterpart Attend Signing Of Cooperation Deals


Cairo: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto attended a ceremony for signing a number of memorandums of understanding and joint cooperation between the two countries.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the cooperation memorandum was signed by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El Wazir and Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi. The memo covers cooperation between the Port of Alexandria and the Kenyan Port Authority. President Ruto was received earlier in the day by President Sisi at Ittihadia Palace.



The leaders also observed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between Safaga Port and the Kenyan Port Authority, Mombasa Port. This was signed by Kamel El Wazir and Musalia Mudavadi. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Commodities and its Kenyan counterpart was signed by Minister Sherif El Sherbini and the Kenyan Foreign minister.



El-Sisi and Ruto further witnessed the inking of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s General Authority For Investment and Free Zones and the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), signed by Investment Minister Hassan Khatib and Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi.



Another memorandum of understanding was signed regarding cooperation in communications, information technology, and postal services between Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and IT and Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy. Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and Musalia Mudavadi also signed a memo for political consultations between their foreign ministries.



Further agreements included a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in governance and sustainable development, space and peaceful use of outer space, education and science, youth and sports, gender equality, and diplomatic training. These agreements aim to strengthen bilateral relations and foster collaboration in various sectors.
