President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt-Hungary relations is a model to be followed in international relations in light of the tough challenges facing the world.
Addressing a joint press conference with visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Sisi said the Egyptian-Hungarian ties have started around 95 years ago, noting that Budapest has been Egypt’s voice in the European Union seven years ago and explicitly explained the conditions of Egypt and the region.
He also said that Egyptian-Hungarian relations have witnessed a big leap during the period of Orban’s term as Hungary prime minister.
Sisi also extended thanks to the Hungarian premier and the excellent bilateral relations during his term as head of the Hungarian government
Speaking at the press conference, Sisi said the Egyptian-Hungarian relations are distinguished because of the common understanding and respect between the two countries along with a consensus in the political stances regarding various international issues.
El-Sisi noted that his talks with Orban focused on means of enhancing joint economic ties as they agreed on the great benefits that will be gained by the Hungarian investors working in Egypt especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
He said talks reiterated the necessity of boosting ties between the Egyptian companies and their Hungarian opposites along with exchanging expertise in the fields of agricultural, water management and irrigation.
Talks also covered ways to beef up cooperation in countering the international food and energy crises and increasing the number of tourists between the two countries, El-Sisi explained.
The Egyptian president went on to say that talks also asserted the importance of implementing a clinched deal to supply Egypt with 1,350 train carriages according to the delivery schedule, adding that they agreed on localizing the industry of train carriages in Egypt.
El-Sisi extended thanks to Orban over the Hungarian government’s decision to increase the number of universities and post-graduate scholarships to Egypt to reach 200 as of the academic year 2023/2024.
El-Sisi also said that the talks witnessed an exchange of viewpoints regarding a set of regional and international crises especially in the Middle East region and Europe.
He noted that both sides shared the same viewpoints on the need to reach a peaceful settlement to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis as soon as possible in order to achieve common interests of the peoples of the region and end the human suffering, noting that the war has gross economic consequences especially in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
El-Sisi also said that they agreed on continuing cooperation in the field of combating illegal immigration and terrorism, citing Egypt’s big successes in handling the two issues.
Concluding the press conference,El- Sisi welcomed Orban and his spouse as dear guests of Egypt and wished them a happy stay.
