RAMALLAH: President Mahmoud Abbas has mourned the passing of prominent Palestinian national fighter Sami Muslim, who died today in Ramallah after a lifetime of dedication to his people’s cause.
President Abbas praised Muslim’s contributions, highlighting his commitment to serving the Palestinian people and defending their rights. He extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and his comrades, praying for God’s mercy upon him and comfort for his loved ones.
Muslim was active in the Palestinian student movement and joined Fatah in 1968 in Lebanon. He became fully engaged with the movement in 1973, holding various leadership positions. He was a member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council since 1989 and a member of the National Council since 1991.
Additionally, Muslim served as acting head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s diplomatic mission in Beijing from 1977 to 1979, and as a director in the offices of the PLO Chairman in Beirut and Tunisia until 1985. He also managed the office
of the late President Yasser Arafat from 1993 to 2003.
