NEW YORK: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received Ronald Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress, at his residence in New York, at dawn on Monday.
President Abbas arrived in New York on Friday evening to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The President is scheduled to deliver the State of Palestine’s speech before the General Assembly next on September 26.
The 79th session of the General Assembly kicked off on Tuesday under the title: “Unity in Diversity for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for All, Everywhere.”
This session saw a historic event when the State of Palestine obtained an official seat among the member states of the General Assembly for the first time during the opening session, in implementation of a resolution issued last May.
