NEW YORK: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas met on Thursday with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York.
President Abbas reviewed the latest developments on the Palestinian scene, and the ongoing efforts with all parties to stop the comprehensive aggression of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid, withdraw from the entire Gaza Strip, and stop the attacks of the occupation forces and terrorist colonists on Palestinian people in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The President reiterated the Palestinian position calling for stopping the aggression against Palestinian people, the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, and moving towards a political process that ends the occupation and embodies the Palestinian state on the ground with East Jerusal
em as its capital, in implementation of the General Assembly resolution on implementing the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and achieving security, stability, and peace for all.
President Abbas stressed that the State of Palestine will continue to seek full membership in the United Nations, and obtain more recognition of the State of Palestine.
