The Public Security Department (PSD) said that a total of 1,098 people were arrested in 593 drug trafficking cases during the month of June 2023.
The PSD spokesperson added that 124 kilograms of hashish, 900,000 captagon pills, 8,000 narcotic pills, 4 kg of crystal meth, 37 kg of marijuana, 24 grams of cocaine, 2 kg of industrial hashish, 2.4 kg of hashish powder, and firearms were confiscated in campaigns last month.
In addition to these operations, the Anti-Narcotic Department (AND) conducted 275 initiatives geared toward raising awareness of drug abuse. These activities involved various educational programs such as courses, lectures, workshops, and seminars, which were held in collaboration with academic and media institutions and partners.
The drug addiction treatment center run by AND received a total of 85 cases for the month of June, comprising both direct admissions and referrals.
