PM Witnesses Signing of MoU to Establish UK’s Exeter University Campus in Egypt


Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a pioneering campus for the University of Exeter in Egypt; the first of its kind in Africa for the British Russell Group of Universities. The event was attended by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ambassador Gareth Bailey, British Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Mr. Mark Howard, Director of the British Council in Egypt, and several representatives from the British Russell Group of Universities and the University of Exeter.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, Executive Director of the University Support and Development Authority, and Dr. Lisa Roberts, President of the University of Exeter. This significant collaboration aims to enhance academic coopera
tion and provide high-level education opportunities to Egyptian students.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly highlighted that this initiative is part of Egypt’s broader vision to foster collaboration with prestigious global institutions. The goal is to broaden the educational horizons for students in Egypt, preparing them to compete in both local and international labor markets.
