Cairo: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly: witnessed, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the signing ceremony of the exchanged letters for the Korean grant for the second phase of the project “Enhancing Educational Capabilities and Connecting the University with Industry at Beni Suef Technological University.” The grant, valued at $8 million, is designated for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the exchanged letters were signed by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, and Mr. Kim Young Hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt, in the presence of Mr. Chang Won Sam, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
On the sidelines of the signing, the Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation stated that the new agreement between Egypt and Korea is part of ongoing efforts to enhance technological
education and link it with industry. This initiative contributes to sustainable development and creates promising job opportunities for youth. It also reflects the strong cooperation between the Egyptian and Korean governments, emphasizing their shared commitment to supporting technological education as a cornerstone for economic and social development.
She added that the agreement builds on the constructive partnership with Korea, which has selected Egypt as a strategic partner in development cooperation efforts in the Middle East. This collaboration aligns with Egypt’s priorities to support human development and connect education with labor market demands, fostering comprehensive economic growth.
Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted that this grant complements the first phase, signed in 2016 with a value of $5.8 million. The initial phase focused on preparing youth to meet industrial market needs and included the establishment of the Egyptian-Korean College at Beni Suef Technological University. The college was inau
gurated in 2019 and offers distinguished programs in information technology and mechatronics.
