Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has emphasized the importance of the tourism sector in light of ongoing efforts by the government to provide all necessary means of propelling tourism, which he described as a pillar of the national economy.
Madbouli made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday 27/9/2022 with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Eissa, deputy minister for tourism affairs Ghada Samir, and assistant minister for technical affairs Yomna el Bahhar.
The meeting coincided with World Tourism Day, which is commemorated each year on September 27.
The tourism minister reviewed the efforts exerted by his ministry to support and boost incoming tourism.
Work is underway on axes of Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy with regard to tourism; in coordination with the Egyptian Tourism Federation, Eissa said.
He noted that excavation works have started at nine archaeological sites across the country.
Eissa also revealed efforts made by the tourism ministry’s Antiquities Repatriation Department to bring back home 16 artifacts from the United States and two others from Belgium.
