PM to MENA: Legislative Amendments For Promoting EGX

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said the government is making legislative amendments to promote the performance of the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX).

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli responded to a MENA question during a press conference held on Wednesday after the cabinet’s weekly meeting. He emphasized the government’s commitment to taking necessary measures to enhance the EGX’s performance.

Madbouli mentioned that discussions have taken place with the heads of the EGX and the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) about the required legislative changes to boost the stock exchange. He highlighted the increasing interest in the EGX from Egyptians, especially young people, over the past two years.

Despite the high trading volume, Madbouli noted that it is still below the desired level. In terms of gold investment funds, he stated that over 184,000 investors are involved, with total investments exceeding EGP 1.7 billion.

The Prime Minister expressed the state’s intention to
establish more such funds, recognizing their value as a good investment tool for ordinary citizens.
