Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday followed up the implementation status of the national smart transportation system (STS), especially the civil works along high priority roads, including the Ring Rd. circling Greater Cairo, regional ring road, and Cairo-Ismailia Rd.
During a meeting with Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir and a host of the officials concerned earlier today, Madbouli stressed the importance of the new system, which will usher in a new era that is in line with the comprehensive development the sector is witnessing in the country.
Madbouli said the new system is being carried out as per the highest standards in place to ensure statewide citizens’ traffic safety, pursuant to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on that score.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad noted that the new system had already been commissioned along Shubra-Banha Highway, which was also supplied with two surveillance and control rooms.
The meeting also touched upon the importance of the new system for expediting emergency response, cutting pollution rates, ensuring accuracy of registered road violations, creating new investment opportunities, and improving global investment indicators for Egypt.
