Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Wednesday that the State is keen on developing the automotive industry, particularly electric vehicles, upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
During a meeting with a host of ministers and representatives of automotive companies, the prime minister said that the State formed a higher committee to give a push to the automotive industry in Egypt, Cabinet’s Spokesman Nader Saad said.
The committee will be tasked with developing plans and strategies to upgrade the automotive industry and outlining legislative and administrative reforms, the spokesman noted.
He pointed out that a guidebook was drafted to develop the automotive industry, including incentives, the regulatory framework, safety standards, and the availability of industrial infrastructure.
According to the spokesman, the strategic objectives of Egypt’s plan to develop the automotive industry focus on attracting new investments in the automotive sector, enhancing the capabilities of local suppliers, and providing more sustainable job opportunities.
