President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to bring about a significant shift in the development projects under way in North Sinai, whether road or service projects, for better quality of public services, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said.
Madbouli was speaking during a meeting to follow up the implementation of North Sinai development plans, in the presence of North Sinai Governor Mohamed Abdel Fadeel Shosha and Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna, along with a host of senior officials from bodies concerned.
Madbouli said the development efforts will start with El Arish city, and other cities and villages will follow suit, as part of the State’s development plan for the governorate, instructing the ministries and relevant bodies to agree on priority projects.
Meanwhile, Amna said the government development strategy for North Sinai targets better basic social services, including education, healthcare, sports and entertainment, while improving business services at public service offices, and supporting agricultural complexes as well as small businesses.
The strategy also involves connecting the government population with the Suez Canal region and South Sinai Governorate, the minister added, citing development projects along the North Sinai’s coastal line to tourist resorts, a tourist walkway, industrial parks near the Suez Canal region, and a logistics hub to benefit from the governorate’s mineral resources.
