Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Sunday that he received directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to take immediate measures to support families of victims of the fire that erupted at Abu Sefein Church in Imbaba district of Giza earlier today.
The president also ordered action to provide utmost health care for those injured in the blaze, Madbouli added.
He underscored quick moves by the ministers of health, local development and social solidarity, as well as the Giza governorate, to inspect the site of the fire.
Speaking in statements after visiting the wounded at hospital and the Abu Sefein church, Madbouli said his government would pay 100,000 pounds to each victim and up to 20,000 to each of the injured based on their wound classification.
All support will be given to families of the victims and the injured in the coming stage, he assured.
The premier expressed condolences for the Egyptian people for the victims of the church fire, stressing quick action by all state apparatuses to contain the flames.
Some civil defense officers were also wounded as they tried to put out the fire, Madbouli noted.
