Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said today that the Israeli occupation authorities’ deduction of additional amounts from the Palestinian clearance funds for debts of the Jerusalem Governorate Electricity Company is a systematic piracy and theft since this company is private and is not affiliated with the National Authority. These cuts, in addition to the Israeli crimes, the violation of sanctities, and the desecration of Islamic and Christian sanctities as well as the absence of a political horizon, are a recipe for explosion, the Prime Minister warned. He added that these deductions are a declaration of a financial war that complements the ongoing political war against the Palestinian people, through which the occupation authorities aim to undermine our people’s dream of obtaining their rights and establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. Shtayyeh said that these crimes and violations reflect the level reached by the occupation authorities in their defiance of international laws while taking advantage of the absence of accountability and the feeling they have of being safe from punishment. He stressed that these practices will not discourage the Palestinian people from adhering to their legitimate rights and defending their land, sanctities, and properties. Shtayyeh called on the United States and European Union countries to intervene to stop all these policies, warning of their dangerous repercussions.
