Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting to assess the progress of the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, focusing on funding, infrastructure, and service building operations. The meeting was attended by key ministers and officials, including Engineer Mahmoud Asmat, Dr. Manal Awad, Mr. Ahmed Kouchok, Engineer Sherif El Sherbini, Ms. Mai Abdel Hamid, and Engineer Kamal Bahgat.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of the initiative, particularly its social housing projects aimed at low-income individuals. Dr. Madbouly highlighted ongoing efforts to implement housing units and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to continue offering units to various citizen segments. An announcement is expected post-Eid al-Fitr for the reservation of 400,000 units, targeting low- and middle-income groups.
The meeting reviewed funding provision, infrastructure development, and service building operations for residents. Coordination among government agencies was also discussed. The Minister of Housing emphasized the initiative’s focus on low- and middle-income housing and the enhancement of green housing projects in new cities.
Ms. Mai Abdel Hamid reported on the execution of approximately one million low-income housing units, with 978,000 already offered and 23,000 more underway. Of these, 639,000 units have been allocated. The initiative also includes 54,600 green housing units in cities like New Obour and New October.
For middle-income groups, 28,000 housing units are available. Ms. Abdel Hamid also shared updates on the “Housing for All Egyptians 5” initiative, noting 571,799 applicants via the online platform, with Cairo and Giza leading in applications.
The meeting addressed mortgage financing, cash support, and interest support, with 620,407 beneficiaries since 2014, and reviewed the fund’s cash flow projections. Discussions also included unit implementation in new cities, dues collection from the Social Housing Fund, and sustainability of supported units.
The Prime Minister directed preparations for housing unit offerings as instructed by the President and called for ongoing coordination among service ministries for utility installations. He emphasized following up on service building operations to facilitate swift occupancy and benefits for residents.
