PM Reviews Progress of Utilities in New Delta Projects

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting to follow up on the progress of infrastructure development in the New Delta Project, a national agricultural initiative receiving direct oversight from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Madbouli underscored the project’s strategic role in expanding Egypt’s arable land, increasing agricultural output, and strengthening food security. He confirmed that weekly reviews will be held to ensure the rapid delivery of key services such as electricity and water. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, officials from the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and the Future of Egypt Authority. The project is considered a vital part of Egypt’s plan to boost local food production, reduce dependence on imports, and increase agricultural exports to support national income.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the New Delta Project aims to transform the agricultural landscape of Egypt by making efficient use of the country’s resources. The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the national economy by increasing the agricultural sector’s output. The government’s focus on infrastructure, particularly in the delivery of utilities, is seen as crucial to the project’s success, ensuring that the newly cultivated areas are adequately supported.

The meeting highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between different government bodies and authorities. The presence of high-level officials from various sectors indicates the comprehensive approach being taken to address the challenges faced by the project. The collaboration between the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and military and civilian authorities is intended to facilitate the swift implementation of the project’s infrastructure components.

The New Delta Project is part of a broader strategy to enhance food security in Egypt, aligning with global efforts to tackle food shortages and supply chain disruptions. By increasing the country’s agricultural capacity, the project also aims to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in rural areas. The emphasis on reducing import dependence reflects a strategic shift towards self-sufficiency, further supporting Egypt’s economic resilience.
