Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli emphasized the strategic importance of the northwestern coast’s development as a pivotal element of the State’s overarching objective to enhance the region’s significance and maximize its contribution to the national economy. The goal is to achieve integrated development that transforms the area into a global attraction at tourism, residential, logistical, and other levels.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting on Thursday, which focused on the progress of the northwestern coast development project spanning from the west of Ras El Hekma to the east of Matrouh, the prime minister instructed the formulation of an action plan for the upcoming period. This plan aims to ensure the development of the area aligns with the State’s objectives.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif el-Sherbiny, Governor Khaled Shuaib, Director of Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (Egypt), Ltd. Ahmed Abdel Azim, and Assistant Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities for Technical Affairs Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim.
During the meeting, Ahmed Abdel Azim presented the strategic plan for the western Ras El Hekma region, which aims to fulfill the State’s vision. He highlighted the general context of the region, site analysis, similar experiences, and the project’s vision and design concept, noting the significance of the west of Ras El Hekma as a vital coastal city.
Abdel Azim further explained that the site is connected regionally through an expansive transportation network, including highways, high-speed trains, airports, and the proposed Ras El Hekma port. This infrastructure strongly supports the development vision for the area.
He also provided an analysis of the local, urban, and natural environment, emphasizing that the integrated development vision aims to maintain the existing environmental and social patterns.
