Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has directed the Healthy Ministry to outline a feasibility study for a city of hospitals and research centers.
The study should determine the cost of operation and management, Madbouli said in a meeting Monday night with Health Minister Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.
A Cabinet statement said Tuesday 23/01/2024 that the premier discussed partnership with the private sector to implement that integrated medical edifice.
Abdel Ghaffar told Madbouli this national project would be an asset to the health system in Egypt. It would achieve a quantum leap in such vital sector, integrating all medical specialties in one place, he noted.
It would help provide distinguished medical services to citizens and would serve the comprehensive health insurance system, the minister added.
If everything works according to plan, the city of hospitals and research centers should be established over a total area of 230 feddans and should include 18 national institutes to provide different healthcare se
rvices, Abdel Ghaffar said.
He added that it would include 4,223 beds and would serve as a center for serious and fruitful scientific research and medical training.
