Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli directed officials to speed up the development of Giza’s al Warraq Island, spanning over 6,360 square kilometers, to create a modern urban community and prevent illegal construction. He stressed the need for organized development and timely compensation for affected residents.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting at the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Madbouli reviewed the progress of land acquisition and construction. Officials reported that 1,024 out of 1,295 feddans (79%) have been secured. Survey teams continue land assessments and clearance operations.
The government is offering financial compensation and alternative housing options, with many residents already relocated. Efforts are underway to furnish and equip new housing units through cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
The first phase of the project includes 94 residential and commercial towers, providing 4,092 housing units. Currently, 50 towers are under construction, accounting for 2,184 units.
Additionally, Madbouli instructed officials to accelerate compensation payments and adhere to the development timeline to complete land and housing clearances as scheduled.
