RAMALLAH: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa today briefed Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly on the Israeli measures posing challenges to the government work.
Prime Minister Mustafa received a phone call from Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Joly on the grave situation in the Palestinian territories and the Israeli occupation’s escalating violations hampering the government’s ability to carry out its duties.
He stated that not only do the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, the extrajudicial killings of Palestinians in the West Bank, colonial construction and withholding the Palestinian tax revenues complicate the mission of the Palestinian government but also undermine its ability to undertake its duties and deprive the Palestinian people of the requirements for life in dignity.
Premier Mustafa extended his gratitude to Canada for the positive development arising from its position in terms of recognising the independent Palestinian state towards the realisation of the two-state solutio
n.
Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Joly noted her country’s interest in the Palestinian government’s efforts and plan regarding Gaza reconstruction as well as the national institutions development and unification program, while expressing her country’s willingness to offer support to the government programs.
