PM Madbouly Reviews Synergy Between Finance and Petroleum Ministries


Cairo: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting to address collaborative efforts between the Ministries of Finance and Petroleum and Mineral Resources. This meeting, held on Sunday, was attended by key figures including Mr. Ahmed Kouchok, Minister of Finance, and Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Other notable attendees were Mr. Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister of Finance for Financial Policies, and Ms. Sherine El-Sharkawy, Assistant Minister of Finance.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, highlighted that the meeting covered vital topics such as the ongoing efforts to fulfill local petroleum material needs through production and exploration. In addition, there was a focus on maximizing the benefits from petroleum resources to enhance the national economy, along with strategies to bolster the mining sector.

Al-Homsani further elaborated that the agenda included the state’s plan for
new and renewable energy, aimed at achieving sustainable and comprehensive development. Discussions centered around the coordination among relevant entities to create an energy mix conducive to Egyptian economic growth, and Egypt’s potential to produce hydrogen and participate in energy trade.

Moreover, the spokesperson indicated that the meeting also discussed strategies for enhancing regional cooperation to attract investments, fostering an appealing investment climate, and simultaneously maintaining energy efficiency and reducing emissions. The meeting also reviewed current statistics on natural gas and crude oil production, alongside plans for production and exploration in the Mediterranean Sea.
