Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Saturday 19/11/2022 inspected restoration works at Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque and the area around it, as part of the Fustat Hills Garden restoration project in Old Cairo.
The inspection tour has also covered Al-Qasaba and market areas near the mosque and its square, the former is expected to host parking lots, cinemas, a seating area, and a walkway.
Accompanying the prime minister during his tour, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction (CAR) at the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Mahmoud Nassar said the market area, occupying around 60,000 square meters, hosts 19 commercial stores, parking lots, artificial lakes, and green landscapes.
Meanwhile, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar said the mosque restoration project is part of the master plan of the Fustat Hills Garden project to revive the historical value of Al-Qasaba area, and build a northern corridor connecting the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) with Salah Salem Road.
The project also includes a hotel and entertainment area to maximize the area’s economic returns, stimulate tourism, promote handicrafts, and curb unemployment, the minister added.
