Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli warned on Thursday 10/2/2022 that any new encroachment on cultivated lands will be firmly addressed. During the weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouli said bodies concerned will immediately remove any encroachment and that deterrent procedures will be taken against the violator, including suspending any form of support he gets from the State whether it was subsidized bread or fertilizers.
We are trying to protect coming generations and we will not allow any one to usurp any piece of land even if it was so small because this comes as part of efforts to preserve the country’s national security, he said.
Agriculture Minister El Sayed el Qusair said the ministry agreed with governors to form committees at the level of villages and municipal units to firmly address any form of encroachment.
Till now, six governorates have already formed such committees, he said, adding that more governorates are to follow suit and submit a monthly report to the ministry on any encroachment.
Madbouli said he will personally follow up the reports of these committees until all encroachments are removed.
