Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli emphasized the importance of following up on progress and developments in the water resources and irrigation projects, which fall within the framework of “Decent Life” presidential initiative.

Madbouli’s remarks came during his meeting Monday with Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam to follow up on the executive position of a number of the irrigation ministry’s projects.

During the meeting, Sewilam reviewed the executive status of the canals’ rehabilitation project, which aims to improve water management in Egypt.

The minister also reviewed the plan to operate wells with the use of solar energy, saying that this scheme aims to achieve effective management of groundwater.

Madbouli, for his part, stressed the need of drawing up an integrated plan to operate the underground wells with solar energy.

It is necessary to expand the use of new and renewable energy, he added.
