PM follows up on Sisi’s directives on exceptional social protection package

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held on Tuesday 16/8/2022 a Cabinet meeting to follow up on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to provide an exceptional social protection package for supporting the neediest families.

The meeting was attended by Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali el Moselhi, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait and Social Solidarity Minister Nevine El Qabbag.

The supply minister said his ministry is coordinating with the Military Production Ministry to make lists of families that will get commodities under the ration card system as of early September.

On her part, the social solidarity minister said that around 256,000 ration cards have been issued, noting that another 500,000 cards would be distributed to the eligible families later.

Qabbag added that her ministry has already prepared lists of the neediest families across the nation that will receive cartons of food items.

The meeting took up the steps taken to pay out compensation for the families of those who died or were injured at the fire that erupted at Abo Sefein Church in Giza’s Imbaba district on Sunday.

In this regard, the social solidarity minister explained that her ministry started paying compensation for the families of nearly 30 of the deceased, as well as granting compensation to the wounded.
